What You'll Do as an Investigations Supervisor 1: Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Investigations/District 4 Toledo Report in location: 1 Maritime Plaza, Toledo, OH 43604 This position may be eligible to telework after the initial training period.

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Investigations Section direct the operation of District Investigations Office (e.
g.
, assign all cases requiring investigation within the district; meet with investigators to review cases & to provide guidance &/or assistance; act as a coordinator and maintain accountability for all cases); Review & analyze all routine reports & complaints & routes to proper source; Assume responsibility for the conduct & performance of all investigations assigned to the district; Interview and screen applicants; Directly supervise the employees within District Office (e.
g.
, provide developmental opportunities, coach staff to foster development, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, & assign work & monitor production); Develop & implement procedures for the enforcement of motor vehicle laws; Conduct training sessions to keep personnel abreast of new &/or changes in procedures, presentation of investigation documents & court demeanor; Participate in the development of policy to ensure the accuracy & confidentiality of case file documentation as it relates to criminal, civil & appellate action as a result of violations of the Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws.
Act as a liaison between law enforcement agencies, the courts, prosecutors, attorneys & the general public to ensure that federal, state & local laws & rules and not violated; Explain & interpret BMV policy as it relates to these laws & rules; Conduct special investigations, file criminal charges & testify in court; Conduct weekly staff meetings; Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly & annual reports reflecting activity & caseload of district office; Respond to written inquiries from the general public.
