Plan, design and conduct faculty training sessions on the application and use of online teaching tools.
Provide consultation and support to faculty and subject matter expertise during course development and redesign phases.
Develop and deliver synchronous and asynchronous resources to help prepare faculty and students to function in an online teaching and learning environment.
Support students in need of assistance in online learning environments.
Assist in integrating established quality standards for online teaching and learning.
Assist in researching and integrating new technologies into the online teaching and learning environment.
Essential Functions:
Assist faculty or staff in combining emerging technologies with instructional pedagogy to support the creation, development, management and/or delivery of various courses, programs, and/or college-wide initiatives.
Assist in identifying, implementing and communicating the technical processes that support the distance learning program's infrastructure.
All other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
Conceptual knowledge of learning theory that will translate into the design of online course activities that will allow students to meet course, program, and college outcomes.
Skills:
Presenting and instructing both groups and individuals - Software skills:
Learning Management Systems, Camtasia, Webinar delivery, MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Interface Design - Keyboarding.
Strong communication/presentation skills.
Abilities:
Capacity to learn new technology systems and implement them to address a new learning challenge - Managing multiple projects - Troubleshooting and problem-solving
Other characteristics:
Patience and empathy to be able to work with and teach constituents who are less experienced with technology - Be able to positively work in a team environment with co-workers, students, committees and all members of the institution.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field, and at least two (2) years' experience with web course management software as an Instructional Designer, Online Instructor, or Instructional Technology Support Specialist.
