Advertised Position Title: Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Health and Physical Education, Exercise Science Job Description: Individual may teach 1 to 12 credit hours of Group Exercise instruction in collaboration with the Health and Physical Education Programs on the Owens Community College Toledo or Findlay Campus per semester.
This instruction may range from aerobic conditioning and strength training to Pilates, yoga, or sports specific classes depending upon instructor qualifications.
In addition to common classroom instruction, the individual must also design and implement lesson plans and assessments at a collegiate level to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the appropriate wellness method.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: This position requires functional knowledge of safe and effective fitness and exercise protocol, as well as an understanding of the human anatomy and physiology.
The instructor must be knowledgeable in the specific program assigned and must provide high quality instruction.
The instructor must have a demonstrated knowledge and be able to integrate appropriate teaching practices to a diverse student population.
Position requires infusion of technology into the classroom and instructor must be comfortable with basic computing skills and willing to learn new applications as necessary.
This position requires the instructor to be able to physically teach the required discipline and evaluate the movement of a diverse student population.

Applicant must have the ability to: 1.
Work with diverse student population in relation to physical abilities, age, and knowledge of alternative media delivery systems necessary to facilitate diverse methodologies necessary to facilitate learning.

Understand the unique needs of a community college population both from an individual and college campus view.
3.
Manage a classroom including organization of materials, presentation, designing meaningful activities and monitor student behavior and performance.
4.
Follow instructions to perform additional duties as assigned to advance the program and meet requested deadlines.
5.
Recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses accommodating to your fullest potential ways to modify their involvement and facilitate their learning.
6.
Evaluate student work fairly using the best standards for each discipline.
Essential Functions: TEACH HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION OR EXERCISE SCIENCE: 1.
Utilizing assigned syllabi templates, develop lessons and calendar of assignments and experiential activities that fall within the parameters of the course objectives.
2.
Prepare lesson plans using multi-modal applications.
3.
Follow Program guidelines for best practices.
4.
Meet classes on all scheduled dates and times during the semester in assigned location.
5.
Use appropriate technology and classroom management techniques to support student experience and learning.
CREATES ASSIGNMENTS AND CLASS LECTURES, EVALUATIVE TOOLS, AND RECORDS.
1.
Creates engaging assignments and class lectures appropriate to the class and participants.
2.
Assigns grades to student work and participation and returns work in a timely manner (within one week).
Maintains open communication with student regarding progress.
3.
Maintains accurate and thorough record of student attendance and grades.
4.
Reports grades and attendance as required, by the college published deadline.
5.
At end of term, administers course evaluation as instructed by college, reports grades as instructed and submits electronic copies of grade book to the Program Chair.
COMMUNICATION AND PROGRAM-RELATED ACTIVITIES.
1.
Utilizes the College’s course management system and other Owens approved applications for creation and submission of any requested materials (syllabi, grade book, attendance records, support materials).
2.
Access Owens email account at least every other day to communicate adequately with students and Program Chair.
3.
Checks campus mailbox weekly.
4.
Responds to student inquiries outside of class in a timely manner during listed office hours.
5.
Attends Program and College workshops, training session, and development activities as needed.
6.
Participates in student learning assessment activities as assigned.
7.
Performs other departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience: Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school Minimal requirements vary on specific class assignments.
2+ years experience teaching within specific discipline and current certification from nationally recognized certifying agency.
Must be able to demonstrate ability to create and implement post-secondary lesson plans and fitness assessments.
Must be able to effectively lead and motivate students during experiential portion of the class.
