PURPOSE OF POSITIONResponsible for the policies and procedures related to student attendance and discipline.
Assist the building principal with a variety of instructional, evaluative, and supervisory duties.
Major areas of focus may include safety, students, staff, parents, current school case law, and public relations.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESAssist the building principal in the operation of the buildings, grounds, and other school property.
Provide a safe school environment through consistent monitoring of established policies and regulations including, but not limited to, fire, tornado, lockdown, and evacuation procedures.
Responsible for the day to day consistent enforcement of laws, policies, and regulations as they pertain to student discipline, attendance, residency, and intervention strategies.
Communicate when appropriate with community agencies such as local police, fire, and Childrens Services to protect the safety of students.
Monitor and supervise students in a variety of settings during the school day.
Supervise the bus unloading and loading, hallways before, between, and after classes, and all lunch periods.
Coordinate and attend co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including but not limited to parent club meetings, athletic events, academic events, club activities, concerts, and school dances.
Assist the building principal with staff development, curriculum development and revision, staff evaluations, budget expenditures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist and support all staff members in the areas of student discipline, Intervention Assistance Team recommendations, and student or parental disagreements.
Recommend the addition of new courses, grade placement courses, credit allowance for course and graduation requirements.
In cooperation with the Director of Teaching & Learning and high school administrators, publish current graduation requirements, approved course offerings, and credit opportunities.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Promote open, honest, and confidential communication with all constituents.
Assist the principal with scheduling special events, assemblies, and activities during the school day.
This may include assemblies and various student orientations.
The principal may delegate additional duties/responsibilities as deemed necessary.
SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge and understanding of the Ohio Revised Code and state requirements pertaining to the educational system.
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Possess a high degree of organizational skills.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and a sincere desire to assist all students.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively by oral, written and presentation communication.
Ability to solve extensive problems quickly, systematically, and effectively.
Ability to demonstrate educational leadership, commitment to academic excellence, effective discipline, sensitivity to multicultural issues, and fiscal and budgetary responsibility.
Knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAppropriate and valid State of Ohio certification/license.
Successful administrative experience preferred.
At least three years of highly successful teaching experience.
