LIBRARY PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITION
SUMMARY
A part-time (.
50 FTE) library paraprofessional position is available for the 2023-2024 school year.
Applicants must work well with all children and be able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
The paraprofessional will support students as well as assist with library operations.
DAYS/HOURS
2 days at the Elementary and 1 day at the MS/HS.
The start date will be January 3, 2024.
PAY RATE
Hourly wage $12.
85 through EduStaff
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The paraprofessional reports to the building principal and assists in the coordination and supervision of student activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students and their program.
Checking in and checking out books to students
Shelving and keeping the library organized
Book repair
Reading stories to the classes
Organize book fair
Sanitize equipment using approved materials
Must comply with all MAS rules, policies and regulations.
Provide support to other positions as required.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students under teaching staff direction.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Library experience preferred.
Previous experience working with school aged children.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
