Summary The School of Inclusive Teacher Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Special Education with teaching, research, and service related to one or more of the following areas: assessment, assistive technology, mathematics, severe disabilities.
This position has a start date of August 2024, and is a 9-month appointment.
Special education at Bowling Green State University is housed within the School of Inclusive Teacher Education (formerly housed in the School of Counseling and Special Education), in the College of Education and Human Development.
The undergraduate Intervention Specialist Program leads to Ohio K-12 dual licensure for teaching students with mild-to-moderate and moderate-to-intensive educational needs.
The undergraduate Inclusive Early Childhood Program leads to Ohio PK-5 dual licensure in special education and early childhood education for teaching young children with and without disabilities in inclusive settings.
Online graduate certificates in Applied Behavior Analysis, Assistive Technology, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Secondary Transition provide advanced professional preparation that leads to a special education master’s degree.
The mission of the School of Inclusive Teacher Education is to build and sustain a dynamic, collaborative community of highly skilled teachers for all levels of education, thereby increasing graduates’ options and those of their students for lives as independent, productive, and contributing citizens.

There are approximately 2000 undergraduate students and more than 200 graduate students in seven initial licensure programs and four graduate programs, with numerous endorsements and certificates.

Essential Functions 1.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to special education in one or more of the following programs: a) undergraduate Intervention Specialist program (leading to combined K-12 Mild-Moderate and Moderate-Intensive special education licenses); b) undergraduate Inclusive Early Childhood program (leading to combined PK-5 special and general education licenses); c) graduate Master’s Degree in Special Education online program that includes specializations in: Secondary Transition, Assistive Technology, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Establish and maintain a productive research line leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations and engage in grant writing activities as appropriate.
3.
Participate in student advising and collaborate in program development.
4.
Contribute to the school, college, university, and the profession through select service activities.
Minimum Qualifications 1.
Earned doctorate in Special Education or closely related field with a focus on special or inclusive education.
Candidates who are ABD at time of application may be considered.
Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2024.
2.
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activities, including research investigations, publications, presentations at professional conferences, and/or grant writing.
3.
A minimum of two years professional experience working in special education or equivalent.
4.
Demonstrated experience integrating current topics in mathematics and/or assessment.
5.
Demonstrated experience collaborating between special education and general education.
Preferred Qualifications: 1.
Effective teaching experience at the college level in multiple modalities.
2.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice (e.
g.
, through curriculum development, research, service).
