Summary The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering’s (CTAAE) - School of Aviation (SoA) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor for its Aviation Studies program.
Our Aviation Studies program offers two Bachelor level degrees—Aviation Management and Operations (AMO), and Flight Technology and Operations (FTO).
The successful candidate for this position is expected to develop and teach courses at the undergraduate level in airline/airport management, airline operational control centers, airline finance, airline/airport planning and design, airport security, aviation management aviation safety and related fields.
Conduct research that leads to peer-reviewed publications in aviation management and/or related areas; actively seek external research support as appropriate.
Perform service to the department, college, and university as well as to the profession at a national level.
The BGSU School of Aviation is one of the largest aviation programs in the State of Ohio and in the US.
It is one of the few academic programs with an airport on its campus.
BGSU School of Aviation is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Part 141 flight school.
The expected start date is August 12, 2024.
The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering is experiencing a significant growth enrollment, especially in the School of Aviation.
The School of Aviation is one of three schools in the CTAAE (the other two being the School of Built Environment and the School of Engineering).
The BGSU School of Aviation is one of the largest aviation programs in the State of Ohio and in the US.
Currently there are over 500 students enrolled between our Aviation Management and Operations (AMO) program, and Flight Technology and Operations (FTO) program.
It is one of the few academic programs in the country with an airport on its campus.

Essential Functions -Teach and develop undergraduate courses in airline/airport management, airline operational control centers, airline finance, airline/airport planning and design, airport security, aviation management aviation safety or related fields.

- Actively seek external research support as appropriate.
- Perform service to the department, college, and university as well as to the profession at a national level.
Minimum Qualifications - A doctoral degree (or all but dissertation) or a terminal degree from an accredited institution in Aviation Management or related discipline.
Individuals who reasonably expect to complete their Ph.
D.
before the start date of the contract (August 12, 2024) will be considered.
Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2024.
- At least two years of aviation industry experience with focus in one of the following areas: airline/airport management, airline operational control centers, airline finance, airport planning and design, airport security, aviation management aviation safety, aviation weather or related aviation fields.
Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated ability to teach and develop aviation management courses at the undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated online teaching experience.
- Experience with using a learning management system for teaching purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research in airline/airport management, airline operational control centers, airline finance, airline airport planning & design, airport security, aviation management aviation safety or related fields.
