Summary
The College of Health and Human Services at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Bowling Green, Ohio is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level to serve as the Director of Research and Faculty Development (Capstone Coordinator) of the developing hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program.
This accelerated two-year OTD program is a blend of online and on-campus activities, which allows the faculty member to live remote to the BGSU campus.
However, OTD faculty members must be able to travel and stay in northwest Ohio for designated time periods each semester.

Essential Functions - The Director of Research and Faculty Development will serve as the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator and is responsible for all aspects of the student's capstone project and experience.
- Provides the management and oversight of student scholarly activities within the program.
- Aligns OTD student capstone projects to support the college and program's mission, goals, and outcomes.
- Provides mentorship of faculty and students to support their development as scholars and researchers.
- Coordinates placement of students for their capstone experience.
- Ensures appropriate supervision as outlined by ACOTE standards.
- Oversees student research activities, including research proposals, IRB reviews, and dissemination.
- Provides appropriate guidance for student research activities to include planning, developing, conducting, and receiving Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for the OTD program and capstone projects.
- Provides primary oversight of the Program Assessment Plan and ACOTE D Standards.
- Provides strategic leadership that develops sound scientific inquiry skills for all OTD faculty and students, as well as provides guidance and direction related specifically to the research-based curriculum requirements of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program.
- Responsible for the program’s compliance with all capstone requirements as outlined in each of the Standards in Section D.

- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both written and orally, both online and in-person - Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications - Terminal academic doctorate (Ph.
D.
, DSc, Ed.
D, etc.
) or a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree (or PPOTD).
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Ohio.
- A scholarship agenda, or evidence of peer-reviewed publications/technical reports/grants, or presentations, which may include scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Have 3 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy that must include: - Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist - Teaching responsibilities at the postbaccalaureate level - Scholarship (e.
g.
, scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning) Preferred Qualifications - Experience teaching in the areas of anatomy, kinesiology, complex clients, neuroscience, neurological practice, therapeutic modalities, bracing, prosthetics, orthotics, pediatric evaluation and intervention, adult evaluation and intervention, geriatric evaluation and intervention, mental health evaluation and intervention, professional competencies, evidence-based practice, or occupational therapy fundamentals.
- Terminal academic doctorate (PhD, DSc, EdD, etc.
) - Advanced certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities.
- Experience teaching online courses - Excellent communication skills and strong computer skills to meet the needs of our online didactic instructional format - Team-oriented and willing to collaborate and share instructional methods and student learning activities - Appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom, and building a student-centered community within the online classroom - Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting didactic and clinical education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.
