Job Description:
This position provides inclusive and intentional advising and support while fostering an inclusive and welcoming space for students.
This position provides timely and accurate academic advising to students in all majors housed in the college as well as providing support for faculty advisors.
The position will assist with Transfer Student Advising & Registration, First Year Advising & Registration, International Student Advising & Registration as well as returning readmitted learners to the college, and participate in other student support and advising events, programs and initiatives as needed throughout the year.
This is a 12 month, on-campus position utilizing both in-person and virtual appointments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Earned Master’s degree (M.
A.
in an Arts & Letters related program or similar field preferred)
OR
Earned Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years working in academic advising/affairs or in an educational setting
• Computer literacy required
Communication and other skills:
• Excellent oral, written and electronic communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and without error
• Genuine interest in working with traditional and non-traditional students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Availability for some weekend and evening work
• High ethical standards and fairness
Preferred Qualifications:
• College advising experience preferred
• Experience with Banner and Degree Audit or other comparable student records systems preferred
