Job Description:
The position of Instructional Designer will provide consultation services to faculty regarding pedagogical, technical, federal compliance (TEACH Act, Copyright, ADA) and administrative issues in course design, development, delivery, and evaluation.
In doing so, this person will design and develop courses, modules, learning objects, asynchronous and synchronous learning activities, and other related materials for the university academic community, and design and teach faculty development courses and workshops regarding pedagogy and technology in online and blended learning environments, conduct Quality Matters (QM) reviews and provide recommendations for course improvement, and promote best practices of teaching and learning with technology.
This person will also participate in UToledo Online initiatives contributing to innovations in teaching and learning with technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology or related field.
• Experience in consulting with faculty about teaching with technology in online, blended, and face-to-face environments.
• Experience using technologies to design student-centered learning materials in a digital learning environment.
• Willingness to explore the use of technology and innovative learning and teaching strategies to advance learner-centeredness in online, blended, and web-assisted courses.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Create Suite, and other authoring programs.
• Experience using a course management system such as Blackboard, Moodle, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ADA compliance, Fair Use guidelines, and the TEACH Act.
• Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• University/college teaching experience.
• Experience designing and delivering faculty development programs.
• Knowledge of learning theories, instructional theories, instructional design theory and practice, best practices in teaching and learning.
