The Hazardous Waste Transporter is responsible for removing and transporting hazardous and infectious waste in accordance with state and federal regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the hospital complex.
Requires attention to detail, ability to follow written and verbal directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to move about readily, stand and walk for long periods of time
Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquires in order to perform assigned duties
Must understand the importance of disposing of hazardous and infectious wastes in accordance with state and federal regulations
Required to operate compactor, trash and flat carts mops, brooms, hoses, utility knives
Must be able to be subject to unpleasant odors and possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids, must be able to tolerate exposure to dust chemicals, and sewage
Must be able to move and/or lift materials weighing up to 10 lbs, 50% of the time; lift equipment weighing up to 100 pounds 10 % of the time and move carts weighing up to 275 pounds 45% of the time
